Prof. Dr. phil. Urs Granacher is full professor and head of the Division of Training and Movement Sciences, University of Potsdam and Chairman of the German PotAS-Commission to reform the German Elite Sport System. With his graduation in Sports Science and his PhD and habilitation in Training and Movement Sciences at the University of Freiburg, his research priorities fall in the fields of strength and conditioning with a specific focus on strength training in young athletes. He is principal investigator of an interdisciplinary research project entitled “Strength Training in Young Athletes” funded by the German Federal Institute of Sport Science. Key components of his research constitute the development and evaluation of targeted interventions to enhance physical fitness and athletic performance in young and elite athletes.
